Highlights


12/2020

AERB-approved Radiography Testing Level-2 (RT-Level 2) Training Programme (Course No. #82) as per AERB/BIS Scheme was held during November 18, 2020 to December 13, 2020 in collaboration with Institute for Design of Electrical Measuring Instruments (IDEMI, an organization under the MSME, Government of India) at IDEMI, Swatantryaveer Tatya Tope Marg, Chunabhatti. Sion, Mumbai -400022, INDIA. Twenty five candidates from across the country successfully completed the training programme.



6/2020

Analysis of a typical ceramic-to-metal assembly using digital radiographic method was carried out at the request of a user division using constant potential X-ray emission and electronic image capture device. The experiment assisted in evaluation of the design and fabrication process of such components indigenously.



3/2020

Gamma radiometry investigation using Cobalt-60 sealed radioisotope source for evaluating shielding integrity of Product Positioning and Handling Cask (150 mm Lead shielded steel thickness) was carried out at the request of NRB. These tests are necessary before putting such manufactured components and assemblies into actual use.

A dedicated X-ray based industrial digital imaging and volume computed tomography facility for advanced non-destructive evaluation has been upgraded and setup at DIR&ICT laboratory at HIRUP. The system is meant for research and development in computational radiation based imaging methods for industrial applications. (completed upgradation during 2018-19)
