To provide the safety and regulatory coverage for the facilities and the projects under BARC.
BSC carries out its functions with the help of BSC Secretariat (BSCS), which is headed by the member-secretary of BSC. BSCS is the nodal agency, which coordinates the activities of various safety committees and facility/project authorities. It follows up the regulatory and safety recommendations. It supports various committees for preparation of agenda papers, minutes of meeting and recommendations/approval orders.
BSCS keeps tracks of latest developments in nuclear, radiological and conventional safety at national and international level. It conducts training courses and theme meetings for enhancing safety culture in the facilities. BSCS prepares draft documents for preparation of BSC safety guidelines.
