It has been observed that many times a large number of persons contact BARC Hospital to avail ambulance services. The request for ambulance services are received from both eligible and ineligible category of persons. The information regarding ambulance services are furnished below for the benefit of all concerned.

Types of Ambulances:

  • Type - A Ambulance (Ordinary)
  • These are only to transfer the patient to the hospital.
  • Only attendant is available in this ambulance
  • Medical aid on the site is not provided by this ambulance
  • Oxygen cylinder is available in this ambulance
  • Doctors & Nurse are not available in this ambulance

  • Type - B Ambulance (Cardiac)
  • With this ambulance emergency Medical Services are provided on site & during the transfer
  • 1 Doctor & 1 Nurse attends the emergency by this ambulance
  • This ambulance is also equipped with primary Medical equipments i.e. Ventilator, I/v facility etc.
  • This type of ambulance is available on contract system in BARC Hospital to shift the serious patient from BARC Hospital to Panel Hospital.

  • Selection of any type of the ambulance has to be done by the patient/ patient relative.

  • Note
  • To certify the death of CHSS beneficiary / Non CHSS person (whether medico legal or non medico legal) at residence is not permissible by Medical Division doctor

  • In Medico legal cases police is responsible to arrange a doctor to certify the death of concerned

  • To request a CHSS doctor for such purpose is exclusively on the personal request basis, not as a rule. In case of non-medico legal cases it is better to approach a private medical practitioner for this purpose.

  • As a rule ambulance should not be used to transfer / shift the expired person. For such case Hearse should be used
  • Workflow to access the BARC Ambulance Service:

  • Medical Division is providing Type-A ambulance to shift patient from site to BARC hospital only

  • To avail type-A ambulance contact BARC Hospital Security.

  • Contact numbers of BARC Hospital Security to call Ambulance from BARC Hospital:

  • 022 – 2559 8038

  • Only CHSS beneficiaries are entitled to avail this facility.

  • Security, BARC Hospital will ask for the CHSS no., address of site from where patient needs to be shifted, name and contact number of caller before sending the Ambulance

  • Ambulance is provided by BARC to attend the emergency within the radius of 10 km area around BARC Hospital to shift the patient to BARC Hospital. This 10 km distance is decided on the basis of reasonable distance to provide the emergency services.

  • In case of emergency beyond 10 km area beneficiaries are requested to arrange the ambulance.

  • If ambulance is not available at BARC Hospital at that time then beneficiaries are requested to bring the patient by hiring ambulance or any other conveyance.

  • BARC Hospital is having two (2) ambulances. These ambulances are also being used to transfer the patients from BARC Hospital to panel hospitals for investigation or admission /vice versa etc.

  • Routine timings of these ambulances to shift the patients from BARC Hospital to panel hospital in 3 shifts are as follows:
  • 08:30 Hrs
  • 12:30 Hrs
  • 15:00 Hrs

  • Please keep other Ambulance service numbers handy in case of emergency if BARC ambulance service is not available.
  • For reimbursement of amount spent on ambulance

  • The application form for reimbursement of ambulance charges to be submitted in the concerned department (Department of treating doctor in BARC hospital/dispensary for that episode) with the certificate etc, (if issued separately) to be enclosed.

  • Enclose the certificate if issued separately by attending regular Consultant doctor of BARC Hospital /Dispensary

  • Doctor /consultants will issue a separate certificate /note on the above mentioned form in genuine cases that it was necessary to shift him/her by ambulance and also they should certify that the type of ambulance availed (Ordinary/Cardiac as mentioned) was needed or not.

  • Casualty Medical Officer’s and Residential Medical Officer’s, part time doctors/ consultants are not authorized to issue a certificate.

  • For type-B ambulance even within 10 km area and beyond 10 km area patient/ patient relative/ attendants should arrange it. Reimbursement is being done as mentioned above.
  • Prime motto is to save the patient at the earliest.
