Overview

In intermittent chemical batch processes with slurry media, removal of pH probes for cleaning results in considerable expensive downtime of the process. A self cleaning pH sensor assembly described here is low cost, requires minimum maintenance and saves replacement of costly sensor due to its inherent design. The pH sensor housed in the designed assembly not only protects the sensor from drying and/or clogging but also helps is faster dynamic pH measurement in slurry processes.

INTRODUCTION


Industrial pH probes are rugged but face performance issue due to sensor drying, sensor clogging, slow response speed especially in intermittent chemical batch processes with slurry media. Cleaning and maintenance requires a considerable man-hour and thereby expensive downtime of the process. The self cleaning pH sensor assembly is low cost, requires minimum maintenance and saves replacement of costly sensor due to its inherent design facilitating longer, maintenance free sensor life. The pH sensor housed in the designed assembly not only protects the sensor from drying, clogging but also helps is faster dynamic pH measurement in slurry processes.

REQUIREMENTS

     Infrastructure

  •   Mechanical workshop for fabrication of sensor assembly along with Medium Precision Lathe Machine, Min 15”drill machine, Welding setup.
  • pH Sensor Calibration and testing facility which includes a Laboratory Grade pH Sensor, pH buffer preparators.
  • Compressed air for testing.
  • Electronic measurement equipment- Precision milivoltmeter, Process calibrator for onsite commissioning.

Space

  • Space of 40 m2 required for start the manufacturing of the unit.

Raw Material

  • High quality Industrial pH sensors are mostly foreign make and needs to be imported through local distributors.
  • pH indicators and other electrical and panel accessories are locally available.
  • Stainless steel or user specified pipe, tubes, fittings are also available in local market.
  • Solenoid valves and accessories are locally produced and available at local market.

Manpower

  • An experienced Instrumentation Engineer/Diploma holder.
  • An Electronic/Electrical technician for assembly of electronic components and panel.
  • A mechanical diploma Engineer/Technician for fabrication, assembly of the Sensor unit.
  • One technician each for operating Lathe, Drill and Welding Machines

Who Should apply


Interested parties with Engineering & Scientific knowledge, good financial background and adequate experience of products manufacturing & fabrication with technical capability in the area of interested technology and having or interested in setting –up facilities for production would be preferred.
