Overview

Fruit Vegetable Dip Treatment Machine (FVDTM) is useful for sequential dip treatment of fruits and/or vegetables. BARC has earlier developed a lab scale process for extension of shelf life of litchi fruit using sequential dip treatment performed manually. The present machine is developed to enable scaled up, hands-free and automated operation for treatment of litchi and it can be customized for other fruits/vegetables as well.

 SPECIFICATIONS

  • Dip treatment as well as drying of sample fruit is automated with programmable parameters.

  • PLC controlled automated prototype machine developed mainly for the litchi preservation technology (available for transfer separately).

SALIENT FEATURES

  • Can be operated by minimally trained operators.

  • Current design treats 10kg/h which is amenable for scale up.

  • Present design includes three treatment tanks but the number can be varied depending on the specific requirement.

These specifications are for the prototype machine suitable for litchi preservation technology and will change during scale up.

  1. S.S.304 mesh of 1 cm²
  2. Capacity: 10 kg fruit such as litchi / other cut fruits / vegetables of similar size
  3. Container size : 25,000 cm³

Dipping solution tank 1

  1. Made of S.S.304
  2. Capacity: 50 Liter
  3. Bottom valve with S.S. pipe line
  4. Heating arrangement for tank
  5. Temperature: 52° C and variable
  6. Panel for temperature controller and indicator
  7. Residence time for fruit 4 min and variable

Dipping solution tank 2 and 3

  1. Made of S.S.304
  2. Capacity: 50 Liter
  3. Bottom valve with S. S. pipe line
  4. Room temperature
  5. Residence time for fruit 30 min or variable

Mesh type belt conveyor

  1. Belt type : S.S. mesh
  2. Drive unit : Geared motor
  3. Tray for collection

Air Drying System

  1. Mounted on top of the mesh conveyor to remove excess solution remaining on fruit

INFRASTRUCTURE REQUIRED

a. Space Required (for the prototype machine handling 10kg/hr load)

  • Dimensions of the prototype machine-4 meter X 1.8 meter X 1.6 meter

b. Electricity Supply

  • Three phase power supply

c. Manpower

  • One operator trained to fill the treatment tanks and supervise the machine

Who Should apply


Interested parties with Engineering & Scientific knowledge, good financial background and adequate experience of products manufacturing & fabrication with technical capability in the area of interested technology and having or interested in setting –up facilities for production would be preferred.
