3kJ/s, 30kV, 200mA CAPACITOR CHARGING
POWER SUPPLY

EME

Capacitor charging power supplies are specifically designed to efficiently charge capacitive loads to high voltages with excellent pulse to pulse repeatability at very high repetition rates. Capacitor charging supplies differ from conventional DC supplies in that the output current is fixed and not variable, allowing the load capacitor to be charged in the fastest possible time, with no requirement for series current limiting resistors.

APPLICATION

The capacitor charging supply was originally designed to replace large command resonant charge supplies in high performance lasers. Even today the largest application for this type of supply is in the laser industry. Although lasers are the largest users of capacitor charging power supplies, they also find applications in areas as diverse as medical sterilization and rock crushing.

Capacitor charging power supply is used in various accelerators, pulse forming line, RF systems. It can act as a source for arc lamps, flash lamps, and flash x-ray systems. It can be used as a charging source for various kinds of repetitive laser system like excimers lasers, free electron lasers. It has various use in repetitive pulse power systems like electromagnetic forming, repetitive Marx based pulse power systems, magnetic switch based repetitive pulse power system.

FACILITIES REQUIRED / INFRASTRUCTURE REQUIREMENT FOR COMMERCIAL PRODUCTION

3 phase power supply through 32 A MCCB. Standard laboratory equipments for testing high voltage supply is required.  A minimum distance of 5 m should be maintained between the charged system and the working personnel for safety reasons. Proper grounding must be provided to the CCPS prior to operation or testing. Dimension of CCPS (standard as per 6U industrial rack) are 26.4cm X 48cm X 52cm.

An electrical engineer, a mechanical engineer & 1 trained technician would be needed.
