‘Emergency Leakage Arresting Device’ is a new and innovative product, which was awarded patents in Canada and South Korea. It is a very effective and quick acting tool that can arrest gross accidental leakage from the pipe-ends within 10 seconds. The device can be installed onto the end of the pipe which has a collar.

It is a proven design and has been in use as a mandatory safety tool to handle accidental leakages at all Indian Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors. The simplicity in design, deployment and also in manufacturing makes this product extremely attractive. All the materials are locally available to manufacture this device.

The device does not require any complex or rigorous training as it can be deployed easily even by a semi-skilled worker. The application is shown below.

The ‘Emergency Leakage Arresting Device’ is a quick acting device that can arrest accidental leakages within 10 seconds. It is especially designed to arrest the leakage from the end of pipes that have a step or a collar at their ends.  Collar ended pipes are extensively used in Indian Pressurized Heavy  Water Reactors in the form of Coolant Channel End Fittings. This device is suitable to all those pipe structures that have a collared end. Specially designed yet very simple semi-cylindrical feature is used to mount the device on the collared end. The major benefit of the device is that the operator does not have to face the leaking water-stream head-on. The mounting is done sideways without facing the leaking water stream/jet and the leakage can be arresting conveniently by manual  rotation of the valve component.

PRESSURE AND FLOW RATE

The design has been tested and qualified up to a line-pressure of 13 Kgf/cm2 and flow rate of 2000 Litres per minute.  This device is suitable for minor leakages as well.

Interested parties with Engineering & Scientific knowledge, good financial background and adequate experience of products manufacturing & fabrication with technical capability in the area of interested technology and having or interested in setting –up facilities for production would be preferred.
