Annual Conference of Environmental Mutagen Society of India (EMSI) and National Conference on  “Environmental Mutagenesis: Integration of Basic Biology & Omics to improve Human Health

January 25-27, 2018

About the symposium:

The Environmental Mutagen Society of India (EMSI) was founded in 1975 at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. The primary focus of EMSI is to promote scientific research and awareness about environmental mutagenesis and carcinogenesis relevant to human health and environmental safety. The major emphasis of research on environmental mutagens is on understanding the mechanisms of mutagenesis and evaluation of the risk of genotoxic agents in terms of association with diseases and predisposition to cancer. With the advent of “Omics” technology, which include genome, transcriptome, epigenome, metabolome and proteome, researchers are able to get in depth knowledge of mechanisms that can explain the process of environmental mutagenesis and its aftermath effects. This facilitates identification of potential targets and in turn can result in translational benefits to mankind. The Society is affiliated to International Association of Environmental Mutagen Society (IAEMS) and Asian Environmental Mutagen Society (AEMS). EMSI has been organizing its annual meetings with scientific symposia/conferences regularly which provide a platform for the young as well as established researchers to interact in a fruitful manner and to facilitate collaborative research and training at national and international levels. The theme of the XXXXII Annual EMSI Conference is “Environmental Mutagenesis: Integration of Basic Biology & Omics to improve Human Health.” This theme is expected to bring together scientists from diverse fiields to address this important topic of research.

The goals of this meeting are to present cutting edge basic biological research in the areas of mutagenesis and carcinogenesis and the different “Omics” technologies that include Genomics, Transcriptomics, Proteomics and Epigenomics that has an impact on Human health. The responses of all forms of life from microbes to man to environmental stress and mutagens at cellular and molecular level will be discussed.

“EMSI invites you to participate in this exciting scientific meeting.”
