Highlights


12/2020

Two no. of 60 degree bending magnets have been designed, developed, characterised and shipped to IUAC, Delhi. These magnets will be commissioned in the beamline of Free Electron Laser Facility called Delhi Light Source. They will bend the electron beam to guide them to the target experimental hall for carrying out beamline experiments.



10/2020

Electromagnetic quadrupoles for MEBT line and quadrupoles and dipole correctors for LBHB 650 MHz section of PIP-II at Fermilab has been designed, developed, characterised and shipped to Fermilab. Quadrupoles are used to provide transverse focusing to the beam. Dipole Correctors are used to provide optical correction and steering to the beam.

The instrument is primarily useful for the vacuum leak testing of UHV components, chambers, enclosures, vacuum sealings, large experimental facilities etc.

These plaques are used for Ophthalmic Brachytherapy. 20 Nos. plaques are delivered by BARC to various hospital in India for eye cancer treatment. Fabrication of these silver tiny plaques was carried out in SFS/EmA&ID. Special Jigs and fixtures were designed and fabricated to execute this very important component.

Brief Description:High gradient magnetic seperators are used to recover weakly magnetic material from non-magnetic matter which can used for rate earth materials and vase weakly magnetic minerals. In these system, the separation is due to high magnetic field and the gradient created due in the interaction zone. A 4Tesla , 130mm bore diameter warm bore cryogen free magnet is developed and installed in user facility to carry out HGMS experiments

This job is machined on Micro Machining Machine Tool by using EDM die sinking arrangement on the machine. Linear Accuracy of the machine is 0.1 Micron (100 nanometer). A very precise step of 0.0001mm can be executed.

Brief Description: A permanent magnet based electromagnetic pump has been design and developed for pumping high temperature liquid metals like PbLi ,PbBi , Na etc. These pumps create the required pressure head due to Lorentz force and the performance characteristics of the EM pump is experimentally investigated in a room temperature liquid metal loop. The flow rate of the liquid metal is measured using indigenously developed non-contact type phase shift flow meter, which is presently installed in the loop.

A 300mm warm bore superconducting solenoid magnet is developed to carry out MHD studies related to flow of liquid metal in the presence of high magnetic field. This magnet is cooled using closed cycle cryocoolers and operate at 4.2K. The magnet can generate 4T magnetic field with an uniformity of 0.1% in good field region of 30mm.

A 0.4-1 T tunable permanent magnet has been designed, developed, characterised and commissioned at INDUS-II beamline at RRCAT. Using this magnet, magnetocaloric studies are being carried out in different MCE materials in presence of magnetic field to study magneto structural transitions.

Alpha-particle irradiator is an instrument developed for in vitro controlled alpha exposure of biological cells for radio biological studies. Fully automated source rotation and collimator to and fro movements as well as an eccentric mechanism are the major highlights of this irradiator. An electronic shutter, which is controlled by the software, is used for setting and controlling the exposure time. A perforated collimator is placed between the source and the exit window.

The Quadrupole Mass Spectrometer is a very versatile analytical instrument capable of compositional analysis of gases and volatile liquids. It consists of an Electron Impact ion source, quadrupole mass analyzer and a detector. The QMS is a compact, reliable and low cost analytical tool which has numerous applications in the industry. It can analyse a mass range of 1-300 amu with a resolution of 1 amu, which is adjustable.

A full range vacuum gauge that can measure pressure continuously from 1023 mbar to 10E-9 mbar has been developed. The gauge consists of two miniature gauges in a single CF35 flange. The electronic control unit switches between the two gauges at the appropriate pressure. This technology has been transferred to private companies for commercial production.
